SUMMARY:Moldova calling: Ein Land im Schatten des Krieges gegen die Ukraine

 for EU membership\, a direct neighbor of Ukraine\, a former part of the So
 viet Union and not only for this reason a highly exciting country about wh
 ich most people know far too little.\n\nOn May 15 at 6:30 pm we will look 
 together at the current situation in Moldova in an online event (in Englis
 h). What do we need to know about the country\, which power relations domi
 nate the local political discourse and what is the situation with Moldovan
  environmental policy\, for example? At the same time\, we would like to t
 ake a European look at Moldova. How does it look like to join the EU and h
 ow does the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine influence the European Ne
 ighborhood Policy and thus the relationship between the EU and Moldova?\n\
 nTo discuss these and other topics\, we have invited three experts. Mihail
  Sirkeli comes from Moldova and is a journalist\, human rights activist an
 d was\, among other things\, an election observer for the OSCE in Moldova\
 , Estonia and Kyrgyzstan. Prof. Dr. Eckart Stratenschulte will give us a E
 uropean perspective on the topic as a political representative of the Euro
 pean Commission in Berlin. His main topics include European Neighborhood P
 olicy and EU enlargement. In addition\, Julian Gröger\, Chairman of EcoVi
 sio\, the largest Moldovan environmental organization\, will be our guest.
  He is also a representative of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Moldova\,
  where he has been living since 2017.\n\nChristoph Sodemann will guide us 
 through the event as moderator. From 2008 to 2015\, he has carried out var
 ious training projects for journalists in Moldova.\n\nThe event will take

 Moldawien ist Beitrittskandidat der EU\, direkter Nachbar der Ukraine\, eh
 emaliger Teil der Sowjetunion und nicht nur deswegen ein hochspannendes La
 nd\, über das die meisten viel zu wenig wissen.\n\nAm 15. Mai um 18:30 Uh
 r schauen wir gemeinsam auf die aktuelle Situation in Moldawien im Rahmen 
 einer Online-Veranstaltung (auf Englisch). Was muss man über das Land wis
 sen\, welche Machtverhältnisse dominieren den politischen Diskurs vor Ort
  und wie sieht es zum Beispiel mit der moldawischen Umweltpolitik aus? Gle
 ichzeitig möchten wir einen europäischen Blick auf Moldawien werfen. Wie
  sieht es mit einem EU-Beitritt aus und wie beeinflusst der russische Angr
 iffskrieg auf die Ukraine die europäische Nachbarschaftspolitik und damit
  das Verhältnis zwischen der EU und Moldawien?\n\nUm über diese und noch
  weitere Themen zu diskutieren\, haben wir drei Expert:innen eingeladen. M
 ihail Sirkeli kommt aus Moldawien und ist Journalist\, Menschenrechtsaktiv
 ist und war unter anderem für die OSZE in Moldawien\, Estland und Kirgist
 an Wahlbeobachter. Prof. Dr. Eckart Stratenschulte wird uns als politische
 r Vertreter der Kommission in Berlin eine europäische Perspektive zum The
 ma geben. Seine Schwerpunktthemen sind unter anderem europäische Nachbars
 chaftspolitik und EU-Erweiterung. Außerdem ist Julian Gröger\, Vorsitzen
 der von EcoVisio\, der größten moldawischen Umweltorganisation\, bei uns
  zu Gast. Er ist zudem Repräsentant der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Moldaw
 ien\, wo er seit 2017 lebt.\n\nDurch die Veranstaltung wird uns Christoph 
 Sodemann als Moderator führen. Er hat von 2008 bis 2015 diverse Ausbildun
 gsprojekte für Journalist:innen in Moldawien durchgeführt\n\nDie Veranst
